Building your home is one of life’s most important, and expensive, undertakings, and you need to know you are in good hands. Do your due diligence and get to know builder. Being informed and establishing a rapport will ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible. Here are some points to keep in mind. 

Recommendations

Recommendations are a great way to find your builder, especially if they come from a fellow professional, such as your designer for example. Building designers and architects will often have builders that they work with regularly and trust. Similarly, at Bennett Construction we have designers and other professionals who we love to recommend to our clients.

Experience

Ensure your builder has the relevant experience and the skills for your project. For example, if their previous work has mostly consisted of renovations they might not be capable of a full build. Or if you have a challenging site or design, you need to know they can take it on.

Work and references

Check some of their previous work off possible and get some references. Make sure that these are from recent, and genuine, clients. Those still in the process of building are a good source of information and opinion.

Licences

Whoever you use, make sure they are licenced and have the appropriate insurances. You can check these details online via Master Builders Association.
